My name is Kobe Subramaniam. I like to describe myself as a student, social entrepreneur and self-trained web and mobile developer with much interest in front-end: UI/UX.

Computers have always been my passion and my inspiration has come from a number of sources, the most influential being my friend Livingstone Koduah and my guru Isaac Richard Osei. Back when I had no computer of my own, I’d spend 4-6 hours each day, in Isaac’s house just coding.

I love teaching and this had led me to apply my IT talents to helping others. Currently, I am the Manager for Google Technology Users Group(GTUG) at the University of Cape Coast, UCC GTUG. I’m also involved with Barcamps in Ghana, NSBE UCC, AIESEC and other organizations geared toward personal and community development. I’m also working on a number of social enterprise and web apps which I hope to soon make available to the public.

The Tech Industry in Ghana, is developing quickly and gaining a lot of positive publicity. This has been helped by blogs and events like Garage48, gGhana and Startup Weekend being held in Ghana. Successful companies in the sector include Nandimobile, Saya, DreamOval, Leti Games and Dropify among others. There are still however a number of challenges namely in terms of refining ideas, raising capital and creating a solid team. Despite these challenges, I’m proud to be a part of the industry during such an exciting time and I look forward to what the future holds!
